2 October - ZOJazz Stage
Masterclass/workshop Big Bands the Ins & Outs with Deborah Carter
An inspiring masterclass by jazz vocalist Deborah Carter for singers and instrumentalists. During this session, participants will delve into the world of jazz big bands, the what, why, and where they come from, and how they work. In this unique workshop, the big band is formed entirely by voices. There are no horn instruments. The focus is on vocal power, dynamics, harmony, and the collaborative creation of a rich, layered sound.
3-5 October ZOJazz Stage
Workshop How To Create a BIG Sound Togerther with Avishai Darash
In a three-day workshop, led by pianist and composer Avishai Darash, twelve selected participants will collaborate on writing and performing a completely new composition.Togther they will find out how to create a “big sound” as a larger formation and present the result in a mini-concert!

Part of the Big Band Day in the Kompaszaal is a Lindy Hop workshop for beginners: an energetic dance style that originated in Harlem, New York in the late 1920s and 1930s.

The A-Mee-Zing Big Band directed by Anna Serierse & Nina Rompa
Join the A-Mee-Zing Big Band and sing your heart out at this vocal Big Band directed by professional jazzvocalists Anna Serierse & Nina Rompa. With the A-Mee-Zing Big Band we a big band that consists of voices only is created, resulting in a final concert in The Concertgebouw

Meet in the Middle conducted by Maite Hontelé
Drum band Ritmo Entertainment and Wijktalent Orkest NEXT Zuidoost, along with young saxophonists, trumpeters, and trombonists, delve into the vibrant history of jazz and marching bands from New Orleans. Join them! The Meet in the Middle band is still looking for enthusiastic musicians between the ages of 12-18.
